9th Annual Scientific Meeting The meeting took place at the Royal Veterinary College Camden Campus in Camden Town, London, on 27th October 2006. The programme included two presentations which focused on a topic of rapidly increasing significance in both human and veterinary medicine – Recognition and Management of Microbial Infection in WoundsRecognition and Management of Microbial Infection in Wounds. Professor Bob Price of the Pharmaceutical Sciences Research Division, King's College London, described cutting-edge research which he is carrying out together with Dr. Ram Abuknesha on the development of a new generation of rapid biosensor devices for incorporation in wound dressings enabling immediate real-time analysis of the bacteria in chronic wounds. Dr Mike Walker of ConvaTec Wound Therapeutics discussed the development of innovative technology in wound care, focusing on the mode of action and application of silver in hydrofibre wound dressings.
